Here for offer are five vintage WW 2 patches from an estate sale.

The CBI patches designed by General Frank Dorn are the real prizes here. Two CBI patches with snap on backs are really unusual. These are very rare. They are theatre made as opposed to commercially contracted by the army. So, they were not mass produced.

One is a bullion patch with embossed gold and green thread. The embossed patch is 3.25 X 2.25 and the other snap on is 3 X 2.25.

The snaps allowed for removal for cleaning,or if a flash of color was not safe. All snaps in place.

The two blue star patches are Army Service Forces first issued in 1941. This meant the wearer was logistical and support and otherwise unassigned.

The blue back patch is 6th Service Command Logistical Function in US.

My father was in the CBI. I have a photo of him stateside with a star patch on his shoulder.

This was replaced by the CBI patch in China.

This gentleman may have followed the same path at the same time.
