This week I am listing some AMAZING RARE Antiques & Collectibles all from a Raleigh, NC Estate.
This is 1 of 2 pairs or original antique carved Snow goggles. Hand carved out of bone which I believe is Deer bone. They are Inuit Indian Eskimo goggles used to block out the glare of the snow to protect there eyes and help them see better. A stunning pair with a flat top and curved lower edge. With nose section carved out. With tiny slits carved for looking through. With two holes for strings to attach to the head. This pair has great lines carved to the ends nose edge and around the eyelets. Some of the lines have something in them. Possibly and most likely old paint. They measure approx. 7-1/8\" by 1-3/8\".
