Wow! What a great piece! You are looking at a WW2 era food galley and in great shape, considering use and age! Opening this galley was like opening a time capsule! The pieces inside are pristine and for the most part look unused! I understand (from online research and previous owner information) that these were used on various US Army Air Force aircrafts to hold warm food rations for soldiers during bombing missions. The woman I purchased this from had no specific information on this piece other than it belonged to her grandfather who was a US WW2 veteran.

*This metal chest weighs 31lbs and measures 17\" x 11 1/2\" x 17 1/2\".

*There is a carrying handle on top and it is still clearly marked H4027.

*On the left side there are steel tags marked \'Food Tray Galley Model FTG-3-1 designed by the Tappan Stove Co\' and manufacturing information. The steel tag below that reads \'27 volts\' and there is an outlet.

*on the right side there are 2 steel tags. One reads \'Contents\' and lists all original contents. The 2nd reads \'115 volts\' and has an outlet as well.

*on the front there is a drawer on top with pull to open and a salt and pepper shaker is still inside, in their holsters. There is also a can spout/spicket.

Then, there is a door, which is latched on each side to open and close. Inside there are 12 steel cups with 12 fitted lids. There are also 6 trays with 6 lids. There is no rust or wear to any of the cups, trays or lids.

There is some wear to the outside from use and age-green paint has worn in places, but gives it a good look. No major dents or damage. There is some minor rust in top drawer, but could be cleaned.

I have not tested this piece to see if it still works, as I do not have the cord and capabilities. Please be sure to review all photographs and if you have any other questions, please ask!!
