The Yoruba from Nigeria create these beautiful beaded hangings, incorporating traditional beliefs and symbols into the design. They are hand-sewn with thousands of tiny beads in brilliant colors, framed by a row of hand-sewn cowry shells and completely lined. Beads and cowry shells were signs of wealth and status.
