Zap Comix #2 2nd Printing / 1968 Heads First! / VG 4.0
Robert Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, Rick Griffin, Victor MoscosoAfter finally getting Zap Comix #1 published, Robert Crumb invited three new artists to contribute to the second issue. S. Clay Wilson, who Crumb met when Zap #1 was still on the press, Rick Griffin, who inspired Crumb with his psychedelic rock posters, and Victor Moscoso, who\'d been collaborating with Griffin on some comic-book ideas already. It took the foursome about a month to complete Zap Comix #2, which came out less than four months after the debut.

If Zap #1 was about Robert Crumb remaking the comic-book narrative to poke fun at our secret fears and fixations, #2 was about pushing those buttons even harder while recasting the comic-book aesthetic. The latter objective is tackled by Griffin and Moscoso, who provide several comics with minimal, nonsensical or nonexistent dialogue. Their stories typically present rotund, often Disney-like cartoon characters experiencing surreal transformations while shapeshifting through—or even becoming a part of—abstract, continually mutating landscapes. The second issue proved to be even more groundbreaking than the first when it came to how comics looked and communicated. I have conservatively graded this copy at VG 4.0.All comics are individually bagged and boarded. This book will ship in a new cardboard envelope.I am not a professional grader but attempt to grade books based on standard Overstreet guidelines. My grading is fairly conservative, particularly at the high end of the spectrum, but your grading may be more conservative. I can only say that I try to be consistent and you will likely find that my grades are within one full grade of your own.
SHIPPING: I don\'t ship comics by Media Mail anymore. It\'s just too risky, as USPS has become more vigilant about checking and restricting Media Mail. The last thing you want is to receive a notice that your shipment is available at the Post Office but there is postage due for retail ground shipping costs because the package did not qualify for Media Mail. I would refund your costs, but of course, but it ends up being a big hassle for both you and me. FIRST CLASS MAIL: I can ship up to 4 standard comic books (or 1 or 2 magazines) by first-class package in a cardboard envelope. This is a great, economic, quick and safe way to ship comics. I also use boxes instead of envelopes for more expensive single books and magazines. Above 4 comic books or 2 magazines (sometimes even 1 magazine), things are too heavy for first-class mail. Slabbed books are also too heavy for first-class mail.RETAIL GROUND, FEDEX and PRIORITY MAIL: For 5 or more comic books or 3 or more magazines, I offer options for USPS Parcel Select Ground, FedEx SmartPost, FedEx Ground, or Priority Mail. I use calculated shipping because it\'s the the most equitable way to pay for shipping. But sometimes I just offer flat shipping costs that are often below my discounted fee. I set a maximum of $11.99 on shipping (less than my discounted cost) for most listings. Larger sets of comic books will be shipped in sturdy boxes with padding and I will offer plenty of options. COMBINED SHIPPING: Under most circumstances, I will combine shipping for multiple wins. Combined shipping discounts are automatically applied for listings that are eligible for my promotional shipping rule. I will also combine shipping with large sets even though will not automatically calculate the combined shipping cost. Just contact me or wait until I get a chance to send you a new invoice with combined shipping discounts. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: As a standard practice, I ship to the United States only. International locations may contact me prior to close of offerding to arrange a special exception and shipping cost. If you do not contact me before close of offerding, no exception will be made. International shipping is a pain (including \'s Global Shipping program) and I try to avoid it at all costs.
