First of all,.... I did not take this speaker from a 12-S-232 Walton radio. The cosmetics were very poor when I found it. Although very faded, it was the Zenith color, however, any labels or stenciled model numbers had worn beyond recognition. After checking everything electronically, and comparing it to my original 49-183,.. I found it to be identical. Rola manufactured the model # 49-183AB , and many other models for Zenith. This one is a Rola Speaker. I found it equipped with the bell on the back, and of course the cone was gone. It originally had an 1800 ohm field coil, so Ireplaced the field coil with a 900+ ohm Rola coil, and performed a complete restoration. Over the years,. it has been found that the 670 ohm original speaker placed in the 12 tube Walton by Zenith was not sufficient for their 12 tube set, and was prone to malfunction. This is one of the main reasons they are so hard to find today. Through research and advice from some of the best in vintage electronics, we have found the 900 ohm, 8 inch Rola,.. the best speakerto accompany the 12-S-232 Walton radio. As for the refinishing of the speaker frame,...I cannot be sure that the color is perfect, but it has been metal prepped, sealed and repainted with a color I mixed myself and I feel is very close to the original. I have applied the Zenith decal on the top and also placed the\"49-183AB / 670 ohm\" numbers on the frame, according to it\'s original position.
The cone, as well as the pig tail wiring harness, have both been replaced.This speaker is ready to install!
