I\'m offering for your consideration an early Frank Vacit pin which has turquoise and coral, jet and mother of pearl in mosaic inlay in Frank Vacit\'s famous Thunderbird figure, which is well documented. This is an exceptional example with the most stunning coloration. The Sei book \"Hopi Bird and Sun Face in Zuni Jewelry\" well documents Frank Vacit\'s thunderbird form and in this case his attribution is correct in my opinion, too. Of course I\'ve priced it better than the pricing in that book.
The pin is measuring 2-3/4\" H x 1-3/8\" W. It\'s a great size and it\'s in great vintage and collectible and wearable condition. The normal wear is attractive and the color variations for the turquoise particularly stunning on this pin. It has a working locking pin mechanism.The piece is unsigned and not marked for silver content, typical of those times, but this is guaranteed to be Frank Vacit\'s work and to be at least coin silver.Frank Vacit\'s work of this vintage and quality sells for thousands of dollars in the galleries.
Frank Vacit was born in 1915, lived till 1999, and worked from the 1930s. He was one of the most talented and great artists in Zuni history. His work resides in the best galleries and museums and he is discussed in every major work. His pieces fetch the highest prices, justifiably.
This pin is very beautiful and is highly collectible. This is a treasure that would suit all collections and is beautiful to wear.
