a vintage studio pottery horse.

made from stoneware.

unknown manufacturer or origin.

it is in a Chinese style but may also be Italian.

it is has some age and the form has a 1950\'s feel.

the horse is well modeled with a distinctive mane, over sized ears and a graceful stance.

it has a blue glaze and a clear gloss over glaze which has crazed with age. (The colour is best shown on the close up picture of the head and mane. The colour is a bit dark in some of the other photos)

the tips of the feet and the underside of the horses tail are unglazed.

13 cm high x 14 cm long x 6.5 cm wide

it is heavy for its size and weighs 520 grams

the horse has some scuffs and scratches to the clear over glaze. The most notable are to the area where a saddle would sit and to 1 of the flanks. These scratches show up white against the blue glaze. There is a shrinkage crack from manufacturer to the top of the front legs and the glaze has a rough finish to the underside of the tail where it has not been glazed.

it displays well and has real character.
