a vintage Danish side or table lamp
made from rosewood veneers.
1930 -1950\'s
the lamp has a hexagon shape. Each of the 6 sides widens towards the base and are curved.
it is a skillfully made lamp most likely by an experienced cabinet maker.
the edges where the 6 sides meet are crisp and give the lamp a quality feel.
the maker has matched the veneers into pairs so that when 2 sides are visible theveneersaresymmetrical.
it is signed to the base with transfer labels \'Made in Denmark Reg Design\'
it has a brass bulb holder that is stamped \'Astonia UK\' and takes a regular size bayonet bulb.
34.5 cm high x 16 cm wide
the lamp works but is untested and will be sent with the plugdetached.The colour of the rosewood has faded with age. This is best represented by the contrast between the base and the sides as shown in the photographs. The original varnish has slightly dried out giving the sides a lightly textured feel. The varnish is not flaking or loose anyway. All of the veneers are solid and tight with no losses. There are some light scuffs and scratches but none that are immediately noticeable or that detract from the lamp.
it is an elegant and well designed Danish lamp that does display well in its current condition but if refinished would really show of the quality and original colour of the veneers.
