I have gathered them over the last 2 years from deceasedestate sales all around the country. Most of the American figuralnapkin rings were made c1860-1899, and I believe a lot of them foundthere way to Australia in the gold-rush period in Australia in the1870/1890\'s.I havelisted them nowas they have accumulated over the last 2 years while I have been engaged in a big supreme court action.
Afterthis it will go back to about 2 new items listed per week. I have soldmany many figurals to collectors mainly in the USA.
This is an absolutely marvelous American Victorian figural napkin ring, with alarge deer(I have been told it is anelandbecause of the twisted antlers) carrying the decorated napkin ring on its back. The detail in this napkin ring is extraordinary....pleasesee photos. The ring is marked as having been made by Meriden BCompany and numbered #204. It is c1870-1890. This napkin ring is showninthe book\"Figural Napkin Rings: Collector\'s Identification and Value Guide\",by Gottschalk and Whitson (G&W), on page 52, plate 107....seephoto. It is one the largest and most beautiful figural napkin ringsyou are likely to see.It is avery rare and sought-afternapkin ring, that only appears from time to time, often in poor condition, but still commanding a premium price. The Meriden B Company (B stands for Britannia) was organised in 1852. In 1862it purchased Rogers Bros. (who pioneered silverplating) and moved the company from Hartford to Meriden CT.

Bythe 1890s, Meriden Britannia had established branches in Canada andLondon and sales offices in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco.Assuming a leadership role, Meriden Britannia convinced other smallindependent silver shops in the Connecticut area that cooperation wasmore efficient. The International Silver Company was the result, forming in 1898.

dimensions: approx. 8 cms x 4.5 cms x 10 cms high
weight: approx 240 gms ~ 8 ozcondition. This napkin ring is inexcellent condition, with a nicedarkish patina. No soldering repairs. No missing parts. No pitting. No cracks/splits.The silverplate is a touch tarnished, more patina really, but I can saywith confidence (as I handle a lot of figural napkin rings) that thereis no silverplate loss. It will polish like a gem if that is what youwant. Most serious collectors would prefer to leave the ring as it is,in its natural aged condition. I have cleaned the napkin ring with hotsoapy water and rubbed with a cloth, no silver polished was used by me,but there were some hints it had been polished some time ago. Presentedfor purchase in as found condition. The only damage I can seeis a tiny deny on one of the rolls on either side of the ring. It ishardly noticable, and the ring presents itself in excellent condition. The ring looks pretty round to me....there might be a couple of scuffmarks on the edges....see photos. I would rate this ring as a solid 9.5out of ten. One of the best I have handled.previous sales. In 2007, this napkin ring sold for $720 USD at sale. On , adeer, with no ring at all, sold for $550 AUD (probably to use as apaperweight) just last year. This is an exceptional and VERY detailed figural napkin ring, in very good to excellent condition.

plus 20% premium = $720 plus postage by ups ($$$) and in 2007.apps.froo.com | Froo | Froo Cross Sell, Free Cross Sell, Cross promote, Marketing, listing Apps, Apps, Application
