Offered for your consideration is an antique HIGHLITES from The News box and reel from 16mm newsreel film of the famous Jack Dempsey v. Gene Tunney championship fight at Chicago’s Soldier Field in 1927. As I’m sure you know, Tunney prevailed in their rematch of the prior year and retained his champion’s belt. Anyways, please have a look at the large photos I’ve taken, and read the remaining description, to decide if this neat survivor is suitable for display in your boxing collection.

The film is not on the reel; it likely disintegrated over the decades. This is not a surprise considering that hundreds (if not thousands) of costly Hollywood film productions were lost to the ravages of improper storage and time. Moreover, the original HIGHLITES outer cardboard box is not in the greatest shape with a side panel chip, some scuffing, and a paper tape-repaired seam on front. Nevertheless, this is still a rare memento of the famous “long count” fight.

As pictured and described, this HIGHLITES box and reel of the 1927 Dempsey/Tunney fight is offered at a reasonable price.
