Antique Tiffany & Company French Clock

Exceedingly rare and beautiful Tiffany & Co. Anniversary/Mantle clock. Manufactured between 1850-1870. Probably 1860s given the brocot suspension and the serial number.Originally sold at the New York City store. Civil war era!

Please read the full description. I am over-describing the clock to ensure the buyer is satisfied. It\'s really an amazing piece and what a conversation topic. How many people have a hand-made, civil war-era Tiffany and Co. Mantle Clock?

This has been sitting on my side table in the foyer. I get regular compliments and it fits my classic, yet modern décor. It is ornate but not overly ornate. I have replaced it with a larger clock to better fit the table.

16\" high, 9.5\" in width, and 4.5\" in depth at the deepest point (crystal) - normal depth is 3\".

Casing: Heavy bronze casing. Previously gilded but time has faded the gilt evenly. Casing and pendulum stamped with serial 3209.

Movement: It has a stamped \"Tiffany & Comp, New York\" movement manufactured by French master clockmaker A.D. (AD)Mougin with serial number 3209.Brocot suspension, which was initiallyused extensively in the 1850s. Bell chime has a higher, refined pitch. It includes a key for winding.

Face: Hand-painted, individually laid roman numerals on porcelain with only a couple chips (very rare to find them in this condition). Hand painted Tiffany emblem just above the six. The 4 numeral is IIII vice IV. Some of the numbers are loose. I have set them in place and they haven\'t moved but they will move slightly if the clock is handled. The Tiffany emblem has residual glue only visible upon extremely close inspection. The crystal appears hand cut and in beautiful shape.

Condition: Great condition for its age.Servicing tool marksare present on some of the screws on the back. It is missing one small screw on the small brass piece secured to its top. The brass piece is attached to the casing but is a little loose.

This clock will need servicing. It is complete, it winds, and the pendulum swings. The bell also works on the half and hour. The hands need to be repositioned because the chimes do not correspond with the hours (easy fix). I looked at the movement and the condition of the gears is very good. I thought about having it serviced before shipment, but I was concerned the jarring and handling of the clock during shipment would necessitate service after delivery.I do have a video of it in operation.

After extensive research, I have been unable to locatean identical Tiffany clock. Tiffany clocks of this time period are exceedingly rare. They sell at antique shops for upwards of $4000. I certainly don\'t expect that. It is priced very low because it due for its servicing and it should go to a good home
