Description

Gorgeous c.1920s/1930s Art Deco frosted glass vase, designed by M. Perron and retailed famous Paris studio EDMUND ETLING. The wonderful piece, featuring thistle flowers and branches, is mounted as a lamp with brass-plated metal fittings. The cut glass finial is not original to the lamp. On the vase, the thistle decor is on both side flanked by classic Art Deco geometric design.

La Societe Anonyme Edmund Etling was founded just after WW1 in France. His shop was in Paris. Mr. Etling commissioned decorative art works of many medium for this studio. Most of his glass pieces were made for Etling at the Choisy-de-Roi glassworks. Reknown for an extraordinary selection of Art Deco decorative arts, the studio, sadly, did not survive WW2.

SIZE: Visible glass of vase measures about 10 1/2\". Total height as mounted (to top of harp) is 26\" plus the finial.

MARKS: Artist mark for M. Perron on side in the glass as shown.

CONDITION: Vase has NOT been examined outside the mounts. On the visible portion of the glass, I found just one small blemish as shown in photo. Metal fittings show minor areas of pitting. I plugged in the cord and turned the light bulb (not included) by turning the switch at the socket (the switch on the bottom mount did nothing). It worked fine, BUT rewiring to current electrical standards is always recommended. Sells \"as is\".
