YOU ARE offerDING ON A 700+ YEAR OLD PORTION OF A HANDWRITTEN ILLUMINATED VELLUM MANUSCRIPT LEAF, ORIGINATING IN SPAIN,CIRCA 1300
This is a rare illuminated manuscript leaf on vellum, a portion probably used in incunable binding, now rescued and presented for preservation. Spanish, first half of 14th Century.
Rare handwritten medieval piece, written with singular rotunda medieval font, complexly arranged and created with the utmost in precision. Interesting applications of later 15th Century Spanish annotation at top margin. Writing applied to front and back. Highlight is a large gold illuminated capital on front, as shown, with additional smaller red and blue capitals with tariling linework.
Well preserved, as shown, but with rubbing, water staining, slight fading and similar. A few little holes, page more legible to one side than the other, as shown in the pictures. The content is is roughly 6.5\" tall by 8.75\" wide.
