CIRCA 1200-1250
This is a unique single manuscript fragment leaf of a Latin Vulgate Holy Bible (Ezechiel III-IV), in Latin, on vellum with numerous beautiful illuminated red and blue letters, with striking trails of penned linework. Certainly mid 13th century, probably penned in France.
Gorgeously illuminated medieval handwritten RED-BLUE illuminated initials and chapter headings throughout, with beautiful black gothic handwriting, complexly arranged and created with the utmost in precision, a great relic of the care and time taken to make this page. Fine thin vellum parchment in excellent condition with minor traces of aging and marginal soiling, some letter rubbing, a few pin holes, very well preserved. Text in late Carolingian/ Rotunda. Red rubricated. Pics taken with and without flash to show details; page is not yellowed. As shown. Measures 7.25\" x 700 years Old, this is a truly rare and worthy of a museum.
