This elegant late Victorian/early Edwardian ANTIQUEREVOLVING CAKE STAND was made by the English Silversmiths/Silver-Platers HUKIN& HEATH. Extensive research has not revealed a similar ‘revolving’ exampleof this design.The design could be regarded as EARLY ART DECO.---------------- The impressed Hukin & Heath mark is theoriginal format of ‘H&H’ with an Eagle, registered in 1875. It was replacedafter 1904 when they became a limited company (see [link removed by ]).It is superbly engineered, separating into two part, and the heavysilver-plating is as undamaged as when new. The plates that accompany the pieceare not of the same period. ------------------The cake stand (including the display plates) measures 12.5 inches in diameter(32 cm.) and it is approximately 7 inches high (18 cm.).
