A very scarce collection of French architectural plans for holiday homes.

Each plate shows drawings of the bungalow, its frontage, either side and read with the following plate detailing th floor and roof plans.

The houses are minimalist in design, with a variety of unique architectural signatures.

Some designs are Art Deco in style. This was an an assertively modern style that ran to symmetry rather than asymmetry, and to the rectilinear rather than the curvilinear. It responded to the demands of the machine ageand of new materials or therequirements of mass production.

During its heyday, Art Deco represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.

The typical 1930\'s bungalow is square in plan, with 1960\'s ones more likely to be oblong, in this collection, we see both.

As the plates progress the architecture becomes more complex and the size of the structure larger.

The scale is 1 c.m. p.m.

CONDITION

In a cloth foliobinding with paper covered boards. Externally, sound with tide marks to board edge and loss to one corner. Front board is detached and backstrip lifted with some loss. Internally, pagesunbound with age toning to edges, otherwise firmly bound. Overall: GOOD ONLY.
