Ca1900 Hand Held Stereoscope / Stereoviewer In Original Carrying Case For Sale
Rare and original, ca1900 hand-held Stereopticon Viewer / Stereoscope in outstanding, original condition and housed in its original carrying case with fitted interior. This wonderful Stereo Viewer measures approx. 12 1/4" long overall and features an adjustable card holder, a "thumb and forefinger" style handle and a brushed aluminum viewing hood. The glass lenses are housed in brushed aluminum lens mounts and the Viewer carries the mark of the manufacturer - The Keystone View Co. of Meadville, Pennsylvania. The optics of the Viewer are exceptional and it is both very attractive and very well preserved.
What makes this Stereoviewer most interesting is the fact that it is housed in its original case with fitted interior made specifically to hold this particular Viewer. The Case is made of a textured, leatherette covered, stiff paperboard and features nickel silver exterior mounts and a fitted interior that holds the sliding the cowling of the Viewer's Hood in place as well as the adjustable card holder. The body of the Viewer fits snuggly into the case and it is obvious that the Stereoscope has been preserved in such outstanding condition because it has spent 100+ years in this original Case. While we have handled literally 100’s of Stereoviewers / Stereoscopes over the past 33+ years, we have never before come across an early 20th century in its original case and we believe such cases are particularly rare.
This rare and very well preserved, ca1900 cased, hand held Stereoscope is in excellent condition. All parts are present and in excellent working order. The finishes on all parts are original and very well preserved and the optics are sharp and eye popping!! The original Case is in very good condition - sound and intact with all eight, nickel plated corners present and original. The leather covered handle retains its original, engraved nickel silver mounts and although the handle is intact and sound, there is some cracking to the leather covered surface (see the scans below). There are a few small spots of wear to the heavy, textured, leatherette covering on the Case but overall the Case is well preserved and displays nicely.
A very rare and original, ca1900 hand-held Keystone View Company Stereopticon Viewer / Stereoscope in excellent, original condition housed in its original Case and a fantastic addition to any collection or as the perfect Viewer to use every day with your prized Stereoview Collection!!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
