ca1930s Churro NAVAJO RUG 59x29 Native American Indian blanket Navaho Ranchfolks:

Offered here is a circa 1930s Navaho weaving that measures 4 feet 11inches long by 2 foot 5 incheswide or 59” x 29” and is in very good condition. It was hand-woven by an expert weaver on aprimitive upright loom of all Native hand-shorn, hand-carded and very nicelyhandspun Churro and Churro cross sheep wool, both weft & warp. This old weaving has a nice inner rug designof 4 concentric fine serrated red, black & white field diamonds withcorresponding half diamonds along the sides.The outer weaving has an old style inset stepped meandering border withan outer black ribbon. We obtained this vintage Native American textile ona rug hunt out of an Idahocollection just to offer you here on .It has a nice, even weft count averaging 26 per inch and a warp count of7 per inch. The selvage cords are: sides in very good condition, one end is verygood condition with machine stitching and 1 end fair to good with machinestitching to stabilize and 8” of repair cords.Warp selvages are 2-spiral cords and weft selvages are 2-spiralcords. The corners are all four inoriginal, excellent condition. The tassels are all four in very good condition. It has not been cleaned, is fairly clean now& comes from a non-smoking home.Whites should brighten with a cleaning.Both sides are shown in photos above.Colors are excellent in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand blended & carded natural grayishbrown & ivory white along with hand dyed aniline over dyed black andcardinal red.
