The first of the twelve issues of \'Internationale Situationniste\', with texts by Guy Debord, Gilles Ivain, Asger Jorn and Michèle Bernstein.
Founded in July 1957, the Situationist International brought together currents of avant-garde art, poetry and social criticism to explore new means of engaging in cultural protest.
Although as an organisation it remained small and was relatively short-lived (it broke up in 1972), the Situationist International was incredibly important in shaping the interaction of art and politics in the postwar period. Issues of its journal are extremely rare.
Condition: Very good indeed. Internally clean and unmarked with sound stapled binding. There are no inscriptions. Minimal age toning at extremities, consistent with age. There\'s expected light wear to the metallic gold wraps, general low level creasing and rubbing to the spine edge. The front is very good indeed; there is some staining to the rear as shown in the final picture.
