His perfect game at the age of 40 Foreword by Nolan Ryan ... who pitched in the majors for 27 years Ryan talks about baseball from his perspective over the years. But one of the most interesting remarks he makes is about Sandy Koufax, who I had the pleasure of see pitch several times and is one of my favorites. Ryan says ... he considers Koufax one of the most dominant, overpowering pitchers he had ever seen and I would definitely agree. Why I bought this book ... Since I was little, my brothers always played baseball, my mom kept score at every game, we went to the see the LA Dodgers several times and when I was older I went to alot of Angel's games. My daughter played baseball, my son played baseball and now I am waiting for my grandchildren to play baseball. It is just part of my life ... but happens to be the one sport that I hardly ever played because I was so afraid of getting hit by the pitcher. I have great respect for pitchers whether they are little leaguers, minor or major leaguers ... I just don't like to stand there while the ball whizzes past my face. Reading about these awesome pitchers just puts me at a ball game in my chair. Now you will just have to get this book if you want to see all the photos, stats and more ... it is fantastic!Read full review
Unlike my colleague, thevelvetzebra, I did not enjoy reading this pathetic stretched out magazine article that Jim Buckley and Phil Pepe, try to call a book. This book is highly repetitive, and by the time I got about half way through it, I never wanted to watch another baseball game again.
