I seen this movie years ago, when I was very young. And purchased the DVD to here Harry Nilsson sing the song, "My Arrow", which one doesn't get to here very often at all. The movie is fun, just long enough to let you forget how the real world sucks the soul right out of you.! Give yourself a little time to watch it...It might give you a moment of happiness. Who knows? Need a video about bullying, this is it. Poor little Oblio is the only kid in town without a point on the top of his head, the different kid. It really doesn't matter until he defeats the local count's son in a game of triangle toss. This leads both Oblio and his dog Arrrow to be banished to the pointless forest, where they discover no one is actually pointless. Entertaining for both children and adults who will hear the things they heard growing up...we have to get rid of Oblio, do you want your daughter marrying one of them?

When I was in high school in the 70's, we stayed in a friend's cabin to ski. They had the album of The Point which we listened to over and over. When the movie came out later, that was even cooler because then, everything we had invisioned was right there in front of us and RINGO was the narrator!! I shared the video of it with my own children, who still quote it now. "You been goofin' with the bees?" and "A point in every direction is the same as no point at all!" are part of our family language. I bought the DVD of The Point because my 24 year old son was having trouble with some decisions about college and we started laughing about his having a point in every direction. He was coming to visit and it seemed appropriate to get him his own copy that he could hang onto for his own children. Three generations of loving Nilsson's very interesting humor. It's an interesting, kind of weird video with great music and a good moral to "believe in everyone" and that "everyone has a point in life" that is now a part of our family make up. We love it.Read full review
This is what I can say is probably some of the best of things that came from my youth. Yes it was written and sung by a gentleman of the 60's that didn't like what was going on but he let it be known in a gentle way. Today most people call it too sweet, no flash bang or even dull. Well, that is a good thing because it has just enough edge to it to make it as good today as it was when it came out. For one I get the point that Harry Nilsson was trying to make then and now. So if you have a point let it be known, but you don't have to have a point to have one either. Get The Point. Just be who you are.

I first saw THE POINT as a child. It's a darling cartoon movie. It was fun knowing that Ringo Starr was the narrator. But mostly, I loved the music. Simple yet catchy and even profound in feeling at times. I never forgot it and as a mother, bought it on VHS for my children. They had the same reaction to it as I did as a child. Over time we lost track of the tape. Recently, I decided to find it again and see if it had made it onto DVD. Not only did I find it but it was much less expensive. I showed it to my kids and they lit right up. Mind you, that I am now a gramma and my kids all grown. There is something endearing and memorable about this simple little film.
