The 1863 is the highest mintage of the 1860-64 copper-nickel Indian cents and it is the easiest to find in circulated grades and mint state grades through MS64. But interestingly, in MS 65 or better condition it is much tougher to find than the 1860, 1861, and 1862.
This is usually a well struck coin. Luster and color can be bright and frosty or dull or somewhere in-between.
Wow this guy is great. This is the only review I have ever written. I have been on ebay for over 15 years. You can not go wrong with this one he is very fair, easy to work with, and ships fast. purchasing pennies and other coins online is very shaky at best. I have rarely been happy with them they are photo'd in a shady way or cleaned it is a very bad crap shoot. Not with this one I WILL BUY FROM AGAIN. Thanks for a great transaction feels good to finally get what you should. Thanks Dean

In a time before "Political Correctness" the mint was able to depict images on coins w/o fear of being sue by special interest groups. The image of a Native American on this coin, in my mind, is a tribute to the pride shown by this country's original inhabitants. The fact that the Indian Head penny is still valued today to collectors young and old is testament to it's desirable state.
The coin is in really great shape. It is a welcome addition to my collection.
