I bought this book for Masters level course. The book has been used extensively in the course, and is a thorough treatment of the the topic of designing a curriculum. There are seven chapters of foundational material, and the remaining chapters build from that material. A companion book that is most helpful is Preparing Instructional Objectives by Robert F. Mager.
The book was purchased to gain extra information for a college course. The book offers clear examples and plenty of detail in the text. It provided the needed assistance and support.
This textbook and this last course in my plan of study will give me the knowledge to develop and assess curricula when I am given that assignment in the "working world." I will receive my Master of Education in Adult Education this June, 2008.
I do know that the book is very informative for instructional design, but I never received this very expensive book from this seller and the seller is very difficult to get a hold of. I wouldn't want to buy from them again.
Instructional Design by Smith is a required book in my Master level class in Educational Technology, Instructional Design at the University of Calgary. The book is very *very* informative. The first few chapters set up the foundations for the instructional design model, and then the rest of the book deals with the theory of ID. 5/5 Latsyrhc Tamarack Collectibles
