2.8GHz dual core. Compatible with AM2 motherboards. Only 65W cooling fan. Plays nice with Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.3 64 bit. *All the AM2 CPUs that run at more than 2.8GHz require cooling fans at substantially higher wattage.

I bought this to upgrade my old, perfectly functioning computer. Luckily it does sort of function, but there are cons. My old computer functioned, but not at all fast. This CPU did not increase the speed, but added some strange pauses and slow-ups.... Result: I think the old 4400 CPU is faster than this recycled 5400!!! My guess is that this 5400CPU is partly worn out. - perhaps only one core is working. It is salvaged from a thrown-out computer. I tried both my old CPU and this newer? CPU and think my computer functions better with the old one. By the way, I bought other old salvaged CPUs for my other computers, also RAMS and must say that all have been disappointing, especially the RAMS. Next time I will build a new computer from scratch and throw out my outdated one. Old recycled CPUs and RAMS are as risky as playing Lotto.Read full review

I bought this model cpu "AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Energy Efficient 2.8 GHz Dual-Core (ADO5400IAA5DO) Processor." because the expert shop didn't find this model but there install "AMD Athlon 64 2.7Ghz" instead. Like: 1. It makes everything processing faster with samples: watch dvd with sound output with dolby 5.1 surround in normally it makes skip or jerk of picture frame rate. 2. If you use SSD drive you will find that it makes boosting time and boot up for windows with less than 15 seconds. It's really fast. For Dislike reason I can't find reason! I really glad when I found this model. I found that its reduce time by half when I convert video its was use time at least 15 min for one video.
I was in the process of building a budget system for my daughter. I looked at building on the Intel architecture, but the intel chips are a little pricey. The processor chips here on eBay are like commodities some prices high and some low, new, used and etc. While looking at the myriad of chips, I came across this AMD dual-core gem which worked out great!!
I re-built an old HP off-the shelf PC and this was about the fastest CPU upgrade the motherboard could handle. Woke it right up! Coupled with a RAM upgrade and an old video card I had lying around I have a viable PC that can keep up with me! I may need a new CPU cooler in the future, the stock one is pretty weak, but for now it works!
