This is a vintage edition. It is in good condition with clear print and beautiful illustrations. I am an English collector of American Girl Dolls. I find the detail to culture, history and language of this particular doll- Josefina interesting. This part of her story is told in a very readable way. I think it would appeal to children aged 7years and over who enjoy attention to detail about the dolls they play with and love.

The healing that begins to take place in Josefina's heart since the death of her mother is an important part of life. I also liked the lessons the sisters learned as they worked together. The more they shared, the more healing that took place. Clara kept her feelings of loss to herself. As she interacted with her family she also bagan the healing process. A loss of a loved one is incredibly hard to face and deal with alone. This family learns that the more they share about Mama, the more they heal. Even Papa.
I needed this book in the series. I like it because it is in the American Girl series even though I have not read any of the Josefina books yet. The American Girl series is creative, imaginative, wholesome and historical.
My grand daughter will treasure this holiday gift!
