3D did not begin with Avatar... See what it looked like in the 1860s. An utterly extraordinary experience between two covers awaits the reader of this book. I had know of 3D Civil War images, oddly enough, because of some Viewmaster® reels I bought in the 70s. Still have them. But the scope and range of the images in this book will amaze! The series of Stereo shots of Pres. Lincoln is a true treasure trove. Naturally there are many shots of the devastation wrought by war. Including graphic images of the dead (long exposure times back then made the dead a perfect subject). Weather with muskets or Predator Drones, war is hell. This volume shows that in ways that will shock. All the sadness of the War Between The States (or, if you prefer, The War Against Northern Aggression) is here and jumps out at you. The small viewer that comes with the book allows one to see the printed images as though they were right before you. It take a touch of getting used to, but when you finally line it up it works perfectly. There is a second volume of these images. I am seriously thinking of getting that as well. The book is extremely well constructed and looks like it was made to last. As to whether or not I would recommend this book to a friend, I already did.Read full review
