First of all, the seller was great, but the product is a little short. In the game, you can play all the famous battles in the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. A great addition to the game was a second campaign where you can fight all the battles through the bad guys' point of view. Four classes are playable: The Warrior- A dude with a sword, An Archer- A long-range fighter, The Scout- a guy that has two short knives that can be invisible and can sneak up on enemies and "Quick Kill" them, and the Mage- A wizard. Heroes and Villains are also playable: Aragorn (warrior type), Legolas (archer type), Gandalf (mage type), and you can also play as the dark lord Sauron. The concept of the game is not original, because it is just like Lucasarts' Star Wars: Battlefront series. Capture "posts" around the battle field to win, or just beat everyone up. It's the same game, except you're playing as LOTR characters instead of Star Wars characters. But in my opinion, The Battefront series is much, much better. All in all, this game is only for Lord of the Rings fans, or gamers who want a good fighting game.Read full review
Graphics: Beautiful vistas, great models. Animation: Different from anyother game, as a compliment. Audio: Excellent. Multiplayer: Well made, addictive, teamplay is a must, great levels, smooth gameplay. Overall: The campaign is short and very fun and is even more fun if played with friends. Multiplayer is very fun and chaotic, just like a real battle should be, and makes you want to play more. I give this game 4 bars. Other thoughts... There is no strongholds/conquest mode in the game yet and in instant action you can play hero death match on 4 different maps. No Sauron or Balrog in hero deathmatch. It already has a downloadable map pack with new heros.
LOTR Conquest Review Gameplay: Sp:(7/10) / Mp:(8/10) Singleplayer: 7/10 A solid campaign, but unless you start out with more than usual talent, you'll probably want to start out on the casual difficulty. Inexperienced players will likely be frustrated by the higher difficulties if they try them on their first time through MultiPlayer: 7/10 Overall similar gameplay to Pandemic's previous work in Star Wars: Battlefront, but with swords, bows, and fire in place of futuristic firearms. Upgrades similar to those in SW: Battlefront 2 would have gone a long way in favor of rebalancing the classes. Somehow, despite having the most health and speed, the warrior feels underpowered. Being backstabbed by Scouts or Mage-spammed also feels extremely cheap. Controls: 9/10 Nothing special, nothing broken. It's fairly easy to learn the controls, though some players may find themselves button mashing occasionally. The game does not reward button mashing, however, (especially in the case of the Warrior class,) but rather rewards deliberate, well timed combos. Sound: 6.5/10 The dialoge will make you crawl on the floor; you won't find more corn on primetime television. The music is taken straight from the films, which is good. Sound effects, such as sword clashes and arrows are excellent, but again, the auditory experience is better if you just plain mute the voices. Story: 7.5/10 Again, like the music, the (first) storyline is based off of the movies, which got their story from Tolkien's masterwork. The second story picks up at Mount Doom using the chilling idea of the One Ring's survival and Sauron's subsequent campaign to dominate Middle Earth. Graphics: 8.5/10 (unless the graphics of a game are either superlatively terrible or unspeakably fantastic, I do not average this score into the overall total) Decent graphics. The worst animation I can think of would be the clouds from archer's poison arrows, they look pretty badly pixellated. Fire may not look realistic, but it does look cool. Overall: 7.0/10 Despite the class imbalances and painfully cheesy lines, I still like this game. Perhaps it's partly nostalgia from SW: Battlefront and LOTR: ROTK. In sum, this may not be the game for everyone, but it's worth giving a shot. Review system numbers: 1- Terrible: This should have never been done. 2- Bad: Nothing here worth glancing at, broken, or nearly so. 3- Poor: Some value here, but very, little, not really deserving of attention. 4- Acceptable: Good for an hour or two- if you're bored. Really bored. 5- Average: Run-of-the-mill, perhaps even solid, but nothing particularly new or creative. 6- Decent:, Again, fairly common. perhaps a few ingenuitive elements 7- Good: Overall solid, well made and enjoyable. Possibly some flaws, maybe irritating at times, but they don't ruin the experience. 8- Great: Above average. A solid, well executed title. Usually several creative elements. 9- Excellent: Wonderful, plenty of variety, well polished, with only a few minor flaws, if any. 10- Perfect: A magnificent triumph in both execution and ingenuity. Definitely worth looking into.Read full review
Overall this game is fun and addictive like the Battlefront games, which were also made by the makers of this game. Unlike the Battlefront games your classes have a greater variety of moves, and abilities, which makes the game more interesting. Also the campaign consists of objectives rather than just taking command posts. Even though, the campaign is objective based, you can still play the typical Battlefront instant action command post type games. The downside of the game is some of the campaign objectives are very hard and there is little or no saving per level, meaning if you fail an objective the level starts over again. Even though, the campaign is somewhat of a pain sometimes the endless killing of enemies makes it just as fun as Battlefront.
Short but fun massive battles, different classes make it interesting. everything is great except there is a little learning curve but that is easily overcome but deaths in the game come fairly often but hey your fight in is some of the biggest battles of the trilogy. haven't played a whole lot of it on live but I know you can't go split screen on live but you can still join with friends. good overall but wish the campain was a couple levels longer, you can beat in a week playing about an hour a day.
