The Sentinel centers around the Secret Service and its protection of the President of the United States and the First Lady. Michael Douglas is a senior Secret Service Agent tasked to protect the First Lady played by Kim Basinger. Douglas eventually discovers that a traitor, who is inside the Secret Service, is involved in a plot to assassinate the president. Eventually, however, he is accused of being the mole and his protege, Kiefer Sutherland, takes over the investigation to find and stop him. Assisting Sutherland is another Secret Service Agent, Eva Longoria, who was also trained by Douglas. There wasn't a lot of fanfare when this movie was first released and it sort of disappeared in the movie theatres. I therefore didn't expect much when I saw it on dvd and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the film. Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland are both good in their roles, as is Longoria. Kim Basinger has what is basically a cameo role as the First Lady but her performance, as usual, is very good. Further, the action sequences are good and the plot, while certainly having some holes in it, keeps you guessing as it unfolds. The shoot-em-up ending was predictable however, but still fun to watch, and overall the movie was pretty enjoyable.Read full review
on the basis of being entertaining, all well done, characters played their part convincingly. though it has some lapses one in particular was when douglas placed a magnetic strip he got from a convenience store on a security alarm device w/c in reality will not really work and a lot more. but on the basis of the story itself i hope next time the level on cause of assassination plot and alike should be put on higher level and the producers and film productions will not be afraid of showing higher level of political scams or so called expose, since they keep on inserting these words like some of the characters etc..etc..and their names etc..etc... all in all i rate it 5 of 10.
I would say that it is on par for what I had hoped for given its subject matter

We were watching this when my niece had to leave and took the DVD along with her. As we were already hooked, we ran to the local rental store and rented it so we can finish watching it. Very suspensful. Eva should continue in movies, especially in this type of action as she is great. She worked extremely well with Keiffer and Michael. What a team! Pay close attention to the details - you'll enjoy it! The DVD also includes special features, like alternate ending and deleted scenes.
Well acted. Great action thriller movie. Keeps you on the edge of your seat.
