A member of my mother's church gave me this book when I was entering my teenager years and one thing still holds true; "The god Of Rock" is unintentionally hysterical. Well known facts are missed or dismissed as unimportant to make room for the writer's "expertise" on the evils of Rock music. According to Michael K. Haynes, every word written in a rock lyric, every story about a musician, every album cover is literal. No one in rock music ever used a metaphor. If that is what they said, that's what they mean. Dr. Haynes misquotes nearly every famous musician in the book. He also credits incorrect bands to songs that he lists in the book. This is OK for the audience he is trying to reach. They only need the information to prove their point not to see the entire picture. If you think this is just funny because it is more than twenty-five years old you are wrong. This was funny in 1982 also.Read full review
