There are lot of good products cheaper than this one. However, it is very sharp and easy to make oroshi on Daikon. Great for ginger, too. It cuts the fiber very well as long as you grate straight back and force. But Garlic, caution is needed, grate too fast then you make MOMIJI OROSHI with your fingers. Plastic siding protects its blade so you can bang it on bowls or pots without messing the blades. That is the best part for me. Over all it is very good Daikon Grater if you are stickler with manually made Daikon Oroshi. If you need to make a lot of it, I would use electric bullet blender or something.
