This is an unknown concert from the early 1980s. The only original member of the group on this concert is John Phillips. With Spanky McFarlane from Spanky and Our Gang. The picture lends credence that this is the Mamas and the Papas. It should be called, "John Phillips and Friends in concert". The quality of the singing is poor. Whom ever is singing in the place of Denny Doherty, should have quit before he started. The cover picture is VERY deceiving. You THINK you are getting something from the Mamas and the Papas. You are not. There are no markings on the cover that tells you what it is a poor concert of John Phillips and throwing people together to do bad covers of Mamas and Papas classics. Spanky McFarlane should be ashamed of her singing of "Dream a Little Dream". I do not recommend this to anyone. I am an avid collector of all things M&P. I am embarrassed this is part of my collection. It is also my understanding this same concert has been released on other discs as well with the false advertisement that it is the Mamas and the Papas. I bought this CD thinking that I would hear the original group singing some of their greatest hits. How wrong was I! If any of these recordings (mostly live, so far as I could tell) are by original group members, it is during their worst performances. I have heard better tribute acts that sound better. And nowhere on the information or packaging is this indicated. Much regretted purchase.
