It may seem a bit dated to young adults because of the graphics, but to older adults it , it harkens back to a simpler time, without being boring. I am a Judy Garland fan so I had to have this in my collection of DVDs! The music is wonderful and the vivid style of art is very unique. It got very good critical reviews but was not successful at the box office so this little film has flown under the radar for many years.

An excellent animated film, with lots of visual treats & jokes related to late 19C French art movements. It was good when I first saw it 55 years ago & it's still a lot of fun.

The story and animation are "purrfect"! I bought it to reminisce, of course, to the simpler days of my childhood. I "purr-ticularly" liked the black alley cats when they popped out of drain pipes - just so much fun to watch again!

I got this for my grands. We watched it and I am glad they can own it. Brings back happy memories.

Although not on the same level of draftsmenship as the Disney Studios, the backgrounds are lovely, in the style of Van Gogh. A wonderful score by Harold Arlen (composer of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"), with great vocal performances by Garland, Goulet AND Paul Frees. Although the plot appears simplistic, there are some very sophisticated moments--a charming montage where Musette, the female cat's portrait is painted by the leading artists of the Impressionist period.
