There has never been a better example of close three part harmony than that of the Sons of the Pioneers. I used to love old westerns not so much because of the action, which was great, but because I loved the musical groups that always performed with my favorite cowboys. Gene Autry and Roy Rogers knew how to pick back up groups. The best of the best has always been the Sons of the Pioneers. This album takes me right back to those days. Roy was one of the original members of the group back when they were singing (back up) for Gene Autry, and has a unique ability to produce great harmony. I had the pleasure of singing with two of the original members of the group when I lived in the High Desert around Victorville CA back in the early seventies. Great times great memories and an album that takes me right back there.I will cherish it.Read full review
I love that these are original recordings by the Sons of the Pioneers before Chet Atkins got hold of them and re-recorded them with string orchastra accompanyment. Bob Nolan is at the top of his game. This CD has some of their top hits as well as many outstanding but lesser known songs. This is a must have if you love cowboy music of the 1930's and 1940's before they got "modernized." Don Bob Duncan donbob1954@yahoo.com
