I have read anything by Mildred Taylor that I could get my hands on. Her Logan family series pulls you in and keeps your interest from the first page to the last, leaving you wanting more. Taylor uses words to create the feelings of an african american in the deep south, before the civil rights movement. The feelings of always being on guard, never forgetting the racial differences because to do so was dangerous, permeate her stories of the Logan family, who never lost their dignity and high standards for living well. Their love for each other keeps them strong during a difficult time in history. This book is highly recommended.
