Anonyponymous was a book I pulled out of the packaging and started to read. I thanked my children for sending me such a thoughtful gift. They all denied it and I realized I had purchased it for myself, so I bought one for each of them too. Super fun to read these stories very interestingly told by a gifted author. If you love English and think words are awesome, or have ever wondered how things were named the way they were, this will be a very readable book for you. I have other word origin books that were not as fun to read, more reference books. This one can be used in that way but you'll be missing out if you don't just read it, cover to cover. I started talking about it with my mom and reading her snippets. Ended up sending her one too. Lovely conversation starter/contributor stories. I especially loved the plant naming and connecting with our old friend the Earl of Sandwich, who invented something really useful because he was a gambling addict and didn't want to get the cards dirty while eating. I may read it again soon. Super fun.Read full review
