I purchased this book in hopes of being to read "encyclopedia" grade information on a variety of issues involving cats. What I found was minimal information in several areas of cats & a brief passage on a few select breeds. I was looking for something much more "scientific"? As the director of a cat/kitten rescue and an extended college education, I expected more. But I gave it an "Good" rating because it has some great information for those that don't want the "text-book" feel. Like some theories in history of the cat, famous people who had cats, and basic coloring, anatomy, health, care, & selective breeding information. I WOULD recommend it for new rescuers, owners/adopters, cat-enthusiasts, or those that are just interested in cats. It's a nice, beginning, reference book with lots of pictures.Read full review
My family loves this book. My husband and I, as well as our 4 yr. old daughter, all enjoy this book. It has every tidbit of information about cats that you could imagine. Everything from cats in history, in art and lit, to photos of every breed there is! Great photographs, but so much more than just a coffee table book. My daughter (who wants to be an "animal doctor" when she grows up) loves looking at the drawings of the skeletal, muscular and other systems of the cat. We also have the dog book that Fogle did and it's great too.
I PURCHASED THIS TO REPLACE ONE I HAD LOST. I WAS VERY GLAD TO FIND IT AND I RECCOMEND IT HIGHLY FOR CASUAL TO SERIOUS CAT PEOPLE!!
