If you are going own only one Mardi Gras CD, this is the one to choose. For one thing, it has Jake the Snake's version of Dat's Mardi Gras, which you just can't find anywhere else. In the 1950s Sugarboy Crawford did a song called Jocomo that became a New Orleans classic. In the 1960s the Dixie Cups went to New York for a recording session and started sing the song in between takes. The producers loved it, wanted to record it, and asked what it was. They said it was a traditional New Orleans song called Iko Iko. They recorded it under that name, it was a hit, and Sugarboy sued them for half of the royalities. Both versions of the song are here and both are great. We also have the fantastic Professor Longhair, who I knew personally, and who may have been the father of Rock N' Roll. This is a must have CD.Read full review
