SRV's carnegie hall appearance; a benifit of the T.J Martell Foundation's work for leukemia and cancer research marked his arrivial to big time the day after his 30th birthday in 1984.. It was the pinnacle of he and double trouble had reached without ever compromising or diluting their raw blues essence. ...unlike selling out to david bowie's "big plans for stevie" only as the guitar player on his "Lets Dance" tour bus a year before. Instead, his friends meant more to him than money and fame... he initially was told by Bowie that Double Trouble would be the band's opener..so..he went for broke with double trouble and now it finally paid off... also with a grammy from the "Texas Flood" performance at the Montreaux Jazz Festival, being the only un-signed band ever to play Montreaux. This is another recording of always great-live, blistering, SRV...but this time he was wearing red velvet, playing in the most well respected place that music is played that people only dream about playing in.... An all star lineup makes it a night to remember. This crowd really sets the tone for blues history in the making ..."THANKS FOR MAKING THIS MY BEST BIRTHDAY, EVER....FOREVER!" -Stevie Ray VaughanRead full review
IF YOU LIKE HARD ROCKING BLUES, YOU MUST HAVE THIS CD! SRV WAS THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER!! THIS WAS PROBABLY HIS BEST LIVE SET. HE HAD SO MANY. I HAVE THEM ALL, AND I PREFER THIS ONE. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE, BUT 2 YEARS EARLIER, HE WAS GETTING BOOED AT MONTREUX IN 1982. I BET THOSE PEOPLE ARE EMBARRASSED TO WATCH THAT CONCERT ON DVD!! THAT WAS 35 YEARS AGO, BUT DOING THAT TO THE BEST EVER IS CRAZY!! HE WENT BACK IN '85, STANDING OVATIONS THAT TIME!! IF YOU'VE NEVER HEARD THIS, YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT. AT THIS PRICE YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!!

I enjoy any music I can find of Stevie Ray Vaughn and this one did not disappoint. It's a live recording and great set list. Seams like the crowd loved it at the time and I sure enjoyed listening to it while commuting to work. I definitely recommend to anyone who's a SRV fan.
