I haven't cared much for the more recent three or four CAT WHO books... they seemed short on mystery and suspense and long on everyday life in Moose County. For this reason I would rate BOMBSHELL? "2" as a mystery, but overall I voted it a "3." Why? I would like to say first that I own every book in the CAT WHO series (I thought the initial title was the best one of all, but there are many others that I have liked very much over the years). And I will continue to buy them... because I do enjoy reading about the continuing characters and their lives.... it's like seeing old friends again. If your idea of a truly great book is one of the "Prey" novels or something by Mickey Spillane or Max Allan Collins (all good items of their kind), then you almost certainly won't like this title at all — but if you do want to try one of this series, I recommend that you start with the very first one (THE CAT WHO COULD READ BACKWARDS). Afterward, if you wish to continue, you can work your way through them in order. These books should definitely be read in chronological order because things change for the characters as time passes.Read full review
I love the cat who series. Some have said these later works are long on life in Moose County, and short on mystery. Well, maybe so, but that's what I love about them. They're quirky, funny, and interesting all at the same time. The first in the series were serious whodunits, and not nearly as pleasing to read as those set in Moose County. Ms. Braun will be missed by all who enjoy reading about Coco, Yum yum, Quilleran, and all the quirky residents of Moose county. As a writer myself, I can truly appreciate the work and know how difficult it is to combine quirky humor with mystery, and yes often a hint of romance. May Moose County live on in the hearts and minds of generations of loyal fans.
Usual interesting mystery by author. Love the cats.

I'm an avid cat lover and have read and owned almost all of Lilian Jackson Braun's books. She is famous for writing the CAT WHO series. The Cat Who Dropped a Bombshell was one of the books missing for my collection. When I found the book available on Ebay at a good auction price, I entered my bid into the auction. MS. Braun's books are full mystery and tell a story about Jim Qwilleran with his two Siamese cats, KoKo and Yum Yum. If you have a cat, you will be able to idenify its' attributes with those in the book. This adds to the enjoyment when reading the story. I think that any cat person or person who likes mystery stories should read at less one of the Cat Who series.
I have read all the Lilian Jackson Braun Cat who books. They are light and fun a good quick read, THis one seemed a little short, maybe because I waited so long for it to be realeased. BUt still a good book a you can let your 13 year old read and not worry about it. Its even better if you have read some of the other cat who books so you can follow the time line
