My title says it all...don't listen to the hype surrounding this date (jerry was back from a life-threatening diabetic coma); if you've loved the GD for years then this will bring back hazy memories but if you are a DH-wannabe this set will leave you scratching your head "WTF did everyone see in them?"...some nights there was an improvistory evolutionary production quality evolving from & between the members of GF that was unlike any jazz/rock fusion group in history...ANY, ANY group!!...they seemed to communicate WITH YOU (and with each other) and TO YOU that seems magically delicious within your own understanding of music...the drugs taken helped to relax your mind so you could float downstream (thanx john lennon), but when you really take the time to listen stone cold sober you can glimpses of the discussions that phil & jerry had with brent & bob; not to mention bill & mickey...we were lucky to be on the bus but if you really absorbed what they could do, it would lead you to all kinds of music (jazz, blues, country, bluegrass, fusion, rock, etc.)...they were one of a kind, but could be absolutely boring on an off night of which they had many (relativly speaking)...the saving grace of this set is the dvd with it's clear shots of jerrys left hand (the heart of the syncopated beat)...enough!!...i realize i miss them and the times when & where i grew up with themRead full review

That's it! Another grate show preserved for antiquity. It's hard to compare years and releases. Of course, the Dead of 1989 are not the same as the Dead of '72, '74, or '77, but they are darn good at doing what they do, and as the man said, they're the only ones who do it. 1989 was a rejuvenating year for the boys, and as a representative of that time this is a great show!
This is Grateful Dead, and that's all i need to say.
