So to start with it is good steel and good wood with that being said it has to reworked both the steel and the wood but very rewarding when done so if your handy with sand paper you can have a really nice axe in no time at all ,you tube it if you need a little help with ideas, its a good base to make something really nice

The handle was splintered and has gouges running through the vertical grain. The handles surface is very rough and not solid. Poor quality control on the haft. The axe bit is also not great. The grind on the bit is not symmetrical and one side has a more pronounced angle then the other. Gonna take some time with a file to reshape. I would like a better handle/haft with out so many quality issues, the splintered portion and deep gauges in the grain really ruined this product for me.

The handle requires refitting and the edge reshaping and sharpening. A bit of handle refitting and some serious work on the edge makes this a nice and usable tomahawk. Priced below $40 makes it practical and I would replace at that total cost.

Please understand this ax will need to be fitted to the wood handle. You will need to take it apart and sand the handle to make it work. The ax head is sharp, but will need more work.

I was looking for a hatchet that was shaped like the late bronze age early iron age viking hatchet. This is it. I've not had the chance to test its toughness, but it's certainly what I wanted.
