I decided to buy the 3&5 woods on the merit of their larger clubface. Also Callaway doesn't make any junk, you can't go too wrong with anything they make! I like the way the woods look at address, and they are easy to hit also. I have had to adjust to the straight ball flight on impact. All my other clubs allow me to work the ball right or left. These are easy to hit straight or fade/slice. My swing allows me to work the ball both ways with all my other sticks with no prob. I'm a low handicap player, probably a 4 to a 7(if the course is unfamilliar). These clubs look great, set up great,I love the larger clubface. It will be hard to slide these clubs under the ball in a hanging deep rough lie,(which will help stop pop ups). Sorry, I just don't like the fairway woods with the 3/4" tall face! This club inspires confidence, hits the ball straight,is harder to hook, and the clubface is as tall as the ball. Check it out!Read full review
Can't wait to hold it and hit it. Sort of like John Daley's "grip it and rip it", except I like just looking at it. Its appearance is appealing. The superbly finished look of a work of art blended with fine craftsmanship makes this club “can’t wait to hold it, and hit it”. Half my current bag is stacked with Callaway X woods: Driver, 3W, 5W, 7W, 3H, 4H, 5H. I can rely on them to get me from the tee to the green (or beyond) in regulation, no matter how much I falter (from human error) along the way. If you are wondering about my “beyond”, that’s because Callaway does not make a 6H or 7H Hyper X hybrid for my 150 yard shots. Cest la vie, I just choke up on what I've got.
This Callaway X 2008 Fairway Wood Golf Club is a beautiful addition to my bag with my set of Callaway irons. I use it for par threes when a driver would be too much. I am still practicing to be able to actually hit it well from the fairway. It seems to be more difficult to use than my hybrid. I love the feel of the grip and the shaft has just the perfect give. Made a nice straight shot for a par yesterday using it to hit the Green. Yeah!!!
club is adequate. for me, at address, clubface seemed closed. bought regular shaft; it is too flexible for me; OK when I swung easy, but on my full swing either hooked or sliced it. Grip did not feel comfortable, but that was true for another Calllaway fairway metal I got thru E-Bay. For me, I would not buy another Callaway without first trying it out. I bought this club because I had the Big Bertha 3 wood, and it was one of my favorite clubs to hit before it got stolen.
This launches the ball very consistently with the metal shaft. I couldn't be happier.
