The Signature in the Cell is an excellent book to read regarding the origin of the universe and life on Earth. It's especially fun for geeky types who love statistics and facts. If you aren't the geeky type, not to worry, Stephen Meyer makes it interesting even for those who aren't all that geeky.

This book thoroughly argues intelligent design in the cell. It covers everything you need to know to argue for it. I took evolutionary biology at Stanford in the 1980's and now realize how much of what the prof said was likely just made up.

This is an excellent book. It is not an easy read because it is heavy on molecular biology and biochemistry, neither of which I am very familiar with, however if you will stick to it and read carefully you will get a well developed and supported argument that the information contained in DNA (and other bio-molecules) could not be produced by random chance events. It is work, but anything this extensive will be work unless you are a professional scientist in the area, and the result is well worth your effort. I've read nothing that compares with this book!
As an MD I appreciate and endorse this book as a lucid presentation of biological facts and it’s understated conclusion. Only a determined philosophical prejudice by anti- theists prevents acknowledgement of the obvious presence of Intelligent Design. The “appearance” of design corresponds to the reality of design.

This book makes an overwhelming case for intelligent design of life on earth and puts forth logical scientific arguments as to why it is impossible for life to have sprang for all by itself.
