I’ve learned to love Patterson’s Alex Cross novels. My latest was the London Bridges (2004), which I believe a sequel to The Big Bad Wolf (2004)—the same year—where the Wolf manages to escape the “dragon slayer’s” claws, to wit, Alex Cross. Patterson lets the reader traverse from south east Washington, DC, to London, Paris, Nice, New York and back to south east where Cross lives with his beloved family. The plot resembles a complicated maze yet at the same time, never allowing the reader to lose track of it. It is this latter capability of the author that keeps the reader hooked to the book and up to its conclusion. I wish he’d include Alex Cross’s long-time childhood friend, John Sampson into his novels more often and revive him as the major supporting figure. Like "‘Cross and Sampson’, forever". London Bridges is an absolute thriller and is worth spending a day or two reading it. Will the Wolf be able to escape this time, as well?Read full review
