This show is the first collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein. The music started the whole genre of Musical Theatre from 1943 on. The way the music flows makes for easy listening as well as bring you back to the early 1900's when cowmen and farmers were having problems living next to one another. I highly recommend this CD for anyone trying to learn the music as well as just sitting and listening to fabulous music (and, of course, lyrics).
Who would know that Hugh Jackman could sing and dance as well as he can act? This film version of a stage production has an excellent cast portraying not only Curly, but Aunt Eller, Jud, Ado Annie, Will, and Ali Hakim, as well. Only Laurie, although fine as a singer and dancer, disappointed me with her acting. If you like the songs from "Oklahoma!", if you like musicals, if you like to laugh and cry, you'll love this one.
Best version of Oklahoma I have heard in my 62 years. Hugh Jackman far superior to Gordon McRae
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Hugh Jackman is fantastic as Curly in Oklahoma. The DVD completes the package as well but if you can't find it, then get the CD and enjoy Rogers and Hammerstein's salute to Oklahoma.
