I am a children's librarian and have used this book in many different settins. In a book discussion with 1st-3rd grade students I projected the art work on a wall and we spent all of our time marveling at the things we missed in the art work when we first read the book. Last summer I showed the DVD of this book to a group of Rwandan refugee students grades 3-9. What an amazing experience it was to watch their faces as they listened to Martin's words and saw the artwork. Most recently my first-grade granddaughter told me that Martin Luther King, Jr. was her favorite person. I purchased this book for her and we have read it several times together. In fact, her four-year old brother has read it with me too and still talks about "Mr. Martin" and his words. You will not forget this book.
I bought this book to use in my first grade classroom. It tells the story of Martin Luther King, Jr. in a way that is easy for young children to understand without dumbing down the content. A wonderful resource in any primary classroom!
