I live in an area where there are frequent power outages. I had previously used emergency type lights that plug in to charge very expensive replacement batteries. Out with the old and in with the new. The lights are perfect, portable and use inexpensive batteries. I now keep these in various rooms of the house and one in the car. When the power is out I used these in the kitchen to light up the room for meal preparation. After receiving my first redder I reordered. Highly recommend

I guess anything is rechargeable if you want to buy chargers. That's what you'll need. No cord to charge it. So you'll just be going with AA Batteries. Theirs no on/off switch, it's either open or not. And here's the best part. If you were scared to stumble in the dark this isn't going to be much help. It might be good for a pup tent or short emergency if you need minimum lighting. Don't waste you money or buy just one first to see if it works for you, not a three pack.

I bought three of these lanterns after we had a power failure that freaked out my wife. These lanterns are very easy to use and provide a tremendous amount of light! They are the same lanterns that are being offered on TV for $19.99 & shipping, but are less than $6/each, postpaid on EBay. They don't have the magnets on the bottom like the TV models, but they are unnecessary. I don't plan on sticking the lanterns to the side of a truck, or throwing them off a tower!

For the price these little lanterns are bright. I had a power outage in which I used two lanterns in different rooms and was extremely pleased that they lasted hours and provided more than enough light to move freely around the house.

I found the lantern's to be as advertized and of reasonably good construction and very bright. The only that I would have liked is a way to regulate the brightness that would also reduce the battery draw. Brightness can be controlled by far open the top is raised. That reduces the light output but not the current draw.
