I had this tape years ago and enjoyed working out to it. It is a fun way to exercise for those of us not prone to prancing around in gyms. I was planning on joining a ladies gym but I had an injury to my neck and shoulders and didn't want to risk more injury using gym equipment. This burns calories and is fun. You can do what you feel comfortable with. Richard Simmons doesn't expect you to get into a lotus position or press 200 lbs. :) This is working out in your time frame without the embarrassment of having others watch you. If you can't squeeze your two or three hundred pound body into a size 4 pink spandex guaranteed to give you a wedgy, then working out at home might be a better fit. I don't know what kind of results you are expecting, but this should be a good cardio vascular workout. Enjoy!Read full review
This is a great video with low impact arobics that is fun and exciting. I do the excercises with my mother, and most importantly it does help health and heart!! That is alway exciting. It MAKES YOU enjoy excercise. You aren't doing it alone. I think that it is fun to have a variety of the videos because it does seem to get very repetitious. One more thing that I really enjoy about the video is that at the end of the video, the people in the video are introduced. When you are not feeling that it is doing a lot of good, the video explains how much weight they have lost. It just makes you feel better, and ready to do some more.
I chose to buy Richard Simmons' videos because the dancing seemed like it would be fun and I like Richard's upbeat style. I purchased Sweatin' to the Oldies I, II, and III. If you are just starting to exercise, you can gear the moves to your comfort level. The type of workout you receive is related to the amount of effort you put forth. The intensity increases as you move from Sweatin' I to Sweatin' III. The people exercising with Richard are various sizes, shapes, and ages. I love it that they look like regular folks not models or movie stars. It helps keep me going when I see folks that look like me doing the moves. The music is fun and Richard keeps you motivated with his encouraging comments. The routines include warm up and cool down sections. Due to a past injury, I cannot raise my right arm above shoulder level; however, I am able to perform all the exercises by slightly modifying the arm movements. These videos are fun, invigorating, and they will make you sweat! Let yourself get into the music, follow Richard's moves, and you will have a blast. The exercise time passes quickly and, before you know it, you will have done a 30 to 60 minute workout. I love these videos! Richard motivates you to get up and move, which is half the battle when doing an exercise program. Get up, move around, get back in touch with your body! Thank you, Richard!Read full review
I bought this tape because I hate to exercise and wanted something that would make it fun. This video certainly does that! The time goes by quickly, I don't feel like I'm working out, and at the end of it I am sweating even though it's not difficult. The only reason I don't give this an excellent rating is because none of the steps are explained which leaves me wasting time trying to figure out what I am supposed to be doing, and by the time I do the group has moved on to something else! In time I will learn and it is a lot of fun!
I bought this tape in the 70's to lose weight. I lost 50 pounds and just love this video! I still have it and work out with it when I feel the need to lose weight. You just feel great when you use it. It is low impact and uses the right arm and leg movements to make your joints and muscles feel better. Exercising is one of those things you make yourself do, but with this tape it is really fun and a pleasure to work out. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to start exercising, but doesn't want to hurt themselves by too strenuous an activity.
