good quality axe for the price. Composite handle. Would have liked a metal sleeve near the axe head as protection for smaller sized wood. Like the side angles of the axe head. Have only had about 2 weeks but have split quite a bit of wood with really no complaints. I am 6'1" and the handle length is appropriate. The head is a nice weight for dry wood even. Hope the composite handle withstands time. On my other axes like this, the composite handle eventually splits unlike wood (hickory)

I'm very happy with this axe/maul hybrid. Is it better than my Gransfors Bruks maul? No, it's different. I've split some knotted up rounds, my GB would do the damage and sometimes stick. Instead of using a wedge the X27 would do/finish the job. Heck, the X27 would split most rounds itself. Nasty knotted rounds up rounds I'd use a heavy maul to start. Man, you talk about complementing each other. Excellent value. Yes the metal is softer than high dollar axe/maul, SO WHAT! Sharpen it. It holds a nice edge. I also bought the Fiskars Isocore maul. Very good as well. Heavier than GB... In my opinion, if you're not lazy and dont mind sharpening the head on the Fiskars more often than high dollar axes you'll be very happy. Don't be lazy. Great value.

This splitter is all they say and more, makes me wish I had a wood stove of my own to stoke! Tried it on some really tough, knotty mesquite and the results were great. Easy to swing, light weight yet good splitting power. Extremely tough handle too.

This Fiskars splitting axe is about half the weight of my old old splitting maul and works much better for splitting. Surprised me. The longer handle and very sharp edge seem to provide more splitting power. Tried it out on 24" hemlock rounds that were about 18 inched deep. three whacks was al it took. If you need a new splitting axe or maul then buy this one. Lifetime warrantee. Perfect.

Amazing what a little re-engineering will do. Weight, balance, edge geometry... when all together this is simple the best tool for the job!
